Rumored lighter and thinner 5th Gen iPad to debut after iPhone 5S

The much-anticipated fifth-generation of iPad, which had become a rave since its rumored specs were published last April,  was said to be released after the launch of the iPhone 5S near  the end of 2013 according to new reports.

Last Thursday, Japanese blog Macotakara published the rumored details regarding the new generation of iPad. iPhone 5S is expected to come out around September, so reports claimed that we would finally see the new iPad by the end of 2013. In addition to the previous rumors regarding the thinness and lightness of the new tablet, it was also reported that the 9.7-inch iPad will have a rear mic next to the camera.

In earlier reports, it was said that Apple’s fifth-generation iPad will have most of the elements of the iPad mini, with a thinner bezel around the screen and more curved casing. There would also be a “GF2” touch panel that would reduce the power consumption of the device. With these external and internal changes, the new tablet was expected to be 15% thinner and 25% lighter than its predecessor.

As for the rear microphone, according to new reports, it was actually from the prototype of the iPad mini which was not included in the final product. Now, the new tablet will adopt that rear mic next to the camera like how Apple added that feature to the iPhone 5S.

With the upcoming release of the iPhone 5S, more news will also pile up for this new iPad.
