iPhone mini screen size may be larger than 4 inches

Taiwan based Commercial Times has recently reported rumors of a low-cost iPhone, feeding rumors of an upcoming iPhone mini. The device would be equipped with a screen exceeding 4 inches and have a similar design to the iPhone 5. The screen size would allow the iPhone mini to compete with 5-inch Android models which have until now represented a gap in Apple’s product line.

Sources expect the device to be released as early as the second half of 2013 with Qualcomm’s MSM8960 Snapdragon dual-core or quad-core APQ8064 processors.

Analysts expect the device to fall within the USD $200-250 range, which will appeal to emerging markets which are eager to buy into the Apple lifestyle. The iPad mini’s recent success has served as an indication of the viability of lower cost Apple products.

Apple has recently denied an upcoming launch of the iPhone mini.
