In honor to the July 10 anniversary of the App Store, Apple sends out posters about the notable landmarks to selected members of the press.

 

 

This coming July 10, Apple will be celebrating the 5th year anniversary of its App Store. Financial Times reporter Tim Bradshaw shared the poster he received which showcased the 5-year worth of milestones of the store. Included in the poster are Doodle Jump, ESPN’s first score app, Angry Birds, Zepto Labs’ Cut the rope, Temple Run, Fruit Ninja, HBO Go, and Paper by Fifty Three.

 

It was July 10, 2008 when iPhone App store debuted with over 500 apps, and after 5 years, it now has more than 850 000 apps. Also included in the App store now are 350 000 iPad apps. The App Store reached its 1 billionth download in 2009, its 10 billionth download in 2011, and its 50th billionth download just this May. To commemorate that milestone, the person with the 50 billionth app download received a $10 000 gift card.
